How to Prioritize Your Mental Health
Meditation has been shown to be an effective way to reduce stress and promote overall well-being. Mindfulness meditation in particular, is a form of mindfulness that has been shown to be helpful in reducing rumination, or repetitive negative thinking.
It’s no secret that the state of our mental health can have a profound impact on our overall well-being. When we’re feeling stressed, anxious, or depressed, it can be hard to motivate ourselves to do anything other than cope with our emotions. However, as difficult as it may be, it’s important to prioritize our mental health in order to live our best lives.
One way to do this is through meditation. Meditation has been shown to be an effective way to reduce stress and promote overall well-being. Mindfulness meditation in particular, is a form of mindfulness that has been shown to be helpful in reducing rumination, or repetitive negative thinking. Furthermore, research suggests that mindfulness meditation can help improve our sleep quality, increase our focus and concentration, and boost our immune system.
While there are many benefits of meditation, it can be difficult to know where to start. If you’re new to meditation, there are a few things you can do to make it easier for yourself. First, find a comfortable place to sit or lie down. You may want to close your eyes and focus on your breath. Start by taking a few deep breaths and then exhale slowly. As you exhale, begin to let go of any thoughts or worries you may have. If your mind wanders, that’s okay! Just gently bring your attention back to your breath. Allow yourself to sit with the silence and just be.
Once you’ve practiced meditation for a while on your own, you may want to consider joining a meditation group or class. There are many benefits of meditating with others, including the support of a community and the opportunity to learn from experienced meditators.
Sekhem Healing Centre offers a weekly Sunday Meditation program for $10 for a year. We welcome beginners as well as experienced meditators.
